Doha: The sixth ACFT semi-finals are set to take place this Friday 16 March and will see Jordan take on India at 8pm and Nepal take on Lebanon at 9:20pm.

Initially, the semi-finals were scheduled to be played in Al Markhiya Sports Club, however, the venue was changed to Doha Stadium because a big spectator turnout is anticipated this weekend.

The four teams are marching on into the semi-finals after Jordan beat Indonesia 2-0, Nepal beat Sri Lanka 2-0, India beat Bangladesh 2-1, and Lebanon beat Malaysia 5-0 in the quarter-finals last week.

The best players of last week’s quarter-finals include Jordan’s Murad Al Sous, Nepal’s team captain Shiva Shrestha, India’s Shahed Bakr, and Lebanon’s Hussain Mansour.

The ACFT is a community tournament which brings together various Asian communities residing in Qatar, and encourages them to play more football in a fun competitive environment.

The ACFT is organised by the Qatar Football Association (QFA) and initially featured the participation of six teams during its’ first edition. Following the success of the first edition, the tournament drew lots of interest from the various Asian communities in Qatar who were eager to take part in the tournament, and thus resulted in a significant increase in the number of participating teams year after year. This year, twelve Asian community teams are participating for the grand prize.

The third place decider match will take place next Friday 23 March in Al Markhiya Sports Club and will kick off at 7pm. As for the final, it will take place on Friday 30 March at 7pm.

The ACFT falls under QFA’s Sub-Leagues Committee which oversees the organising of QFA’s tournaments that target the different segments of the community. Other tournaments organised by the QFA Sub-Leagues Committee include the School League, University League, and Qatar Amateur League.
