DOHA: Nasser Al Khatar, Assistant Secretary General of Supreme
Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC), thanked FIFA President Gianni
Infantino who visited 2022 FIFA World Cup hosts.

Infantino spent two days meeting top officials and visiting
under-construction football venues across Qatar.

“We are happy that FIFA President Gianni Infantino visited Qatar and
appreciated our efforts. The FIFA President expressed great
satisfaction on our progress,” Al Khater said.

Al Khater said the FIFA President called the under-construction
Khalifa Stadium a ‘historic venue’.

On Thursday, the FIFA President visited the construction site of the
Khalifa International Stadium and the accommodation facilities at
Labour City.

Following the site visits, he and his delegation received a
comprehensive updated on the various aspects of preparations for the
FIFA World Cup by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy
Secretary General Hassan Al Thawadi and other senior football
officials in the country.

He used the occasion to get an update from the President of the Qatar
Football Association (QFA) Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmad Al Thani
on the latest football developments in Qatar.

Al Khater added: “The FIFA President feels that the 2022 World Cup
tournament will be different from the previous tournaments and will
leave a lasting legacy.”

Al Khater said Qatar will make the announcement on the actual number
of stadiums to be used at the 2022 FIFA World Cup next year.
