DOHA: Al Rayyan beat Al Gharafa 7-3 to win the Qatar Football
Association Futsal Championship after a scintillating final clash
at Suheim Bin Hamad indoor hall.

QFA Secretary General Mansoor Al Ansari watched the final and later
handed over the trophies and medals to the players and officials of
the two sides.

It was Al Rayyan’s second successive national title and fourth overall.

The title clash was attended by a large number of fans clearly showing
the growing popularity of the sport in the country.

Al Rayyan dominated the proceedings from the start and ended the first
half at 4-1.

Al Gharafa, however, produced a late fight when Nuniz (two goals),
Francesco Jr and Lucas Oliveira found the net for the runners-up.

Al Rayyan managed to stay alive with brisk moves and attacking game.
Powerhouse Al Sadd lost at the semi-finals stage.

Carlos Cesar, coach of Al Rayyan, said: “This was a great game. I
would say ‘well played’ to both sides. We did not give up till the
last minute.”

He added: “We can see the game getting on in popularity. Al Rayyan has
got rewarded for all the hard work. Al Gharafa is considered one of
the top sides and it feels great to have won this title.”
