Doha: The Minister of Sports and Culture HE Salah bin Ghanem bin

Nasser Al Ali said the 2022 FIFA World Cup preparations is in full swing

and there is no need to panic following the sanctions by some GCC

nations.

“Doha will organise the best event in the history of the championship.

Things are going as smooth and the sanctions didn’t affect the construction

plans,” said in an interview to Qatar TV on Sunday.

Al Ali welcomed a long-awaited FIFA report on the race to host the

tournament.

“The conclusions vindicated Qatar’s integrity. The Michael Garcia

report proved all the allegations against us were baseless,” he added.

Qatar will be the first country in the Middle East to host the tournament.

Russia was awarded the 2018 World Cup and Qatar the 2022 tournament

in a single vote in Zurich in December, 2010.
