DOHA: Fans and companies of the country which is tied with Germany on four FIFA World Cup™ triumphs and only trails all-time leaders Brazil by a single trophy look forward to the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar™.

His Excellency Guido De Sanctis, Ambassador of the Italian Republic to the State of Qatar said: “I’ve seen the love for football here, and the commitment keeps in line with Italy’s long lasting football tradition.”

The remarks were made after the Italian Ambassador to Qatar met with Eng. Yasir Al Jamal, Assistant Secretary General for Delivery Affairs at the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) to discuss potential areas for collaboration in the country in the lead-up to the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar™.

After viewing a presentation on the progress being made by the country in the lead up to the tournament, H.E. De Sanctis spoke of the recent Al Bayt Stadium – Al Khor City design launch, which reflects the cultural heritage of a local tent. “It’s going to become one of the most iconic images, and it is reflecting Qatar.”

Also in attendance were H.E. Massimo Rustico, Diplomatic Counsellor and International Affairs Advisor at Associazione Nazionale Costruttori Edili (ANCE) and Dr. Federico Moretti, Manager at ANCE. The association represents over 20,000 private companies, specializing in public works and commercial and industrial companies within the Italian Construction Industry.

Tamim El Abed, Manager of Lusail Stadium at the Technical Department in the SC, gave the technical delivery presentation to the delegates. This was the second visit to the Italian Ambassador to the SC in recent months. “We hope we can establish an active cooperation between the Supreme Committee and the state of Italy in the run up to Qatar 2022,” said H.E. De Sanctis.
