DOHA: Qatar Football Association’s (QFA) Chairman of Competition
Committee Hamad Al Mannai on Wednesday said a number of key issues
have been discussed with representatives of the football clubs in the
country.

The issues discussed at a special workshop held on Wednesday related
to the draw of the Emir Cup which will kick off next month.

The Emir Cup is Qatar’s most popular football tournament.

Other matters discussed included football calendar for the 2017-18 season.

“The discussions were held so that the clubs could plan their activity
for the next season,” Al Mannai said.

“The workshop we conducted this afternoon was called so that every
club gets a fair chance to plan ahead,” he added.

Matters relating to the newly launched U-23 league were also discussed

in detail, he said.

“U-23 football is an integral part of our football plans. That is
where we train and prepare our players for the clubs,” he said.

Al Mannai said the Emir Cup will kick off with Second Division teams
battling for a place in the third phase of the competition draw.

The final of the Emir Cup will be held on May 19.
