Kuwait set to replace Iraq as Gulf Cup hosts in 2016
KUWAIT CITY: Kuwait is set to replace Iraq as hosts of the 2016 Gulf
Cup, the region’s governing football authorities said on Monday.
The Iraqi Ministry of Youth and Sports Iraqi on Monday said Iraq will
not be able to host the 23rd Gulf Cup due to financial constraints.
Kuwait will host the event in February 2016, it was on Monday.
The last edition, won by Qatar, was held in Riyadh in November last year.
At the same time it was decided to give Iraq the hosting rights of the
2016 Gulf Cup which was cancelled on Monday.
A decision to this effect would be officially announced in a few days.
