We played a good first half: Sanchez
KUWAIT CITY: Qatar coach Felix Sanchez said Al Anabi played brave
football in the first half of their key Gulf Cup match against Bahrain
on Friday.
Bahrain drew 1-1 to seal their semifinals berth at the eight-team
tournament. Hassan Al Haydos scored for Qatar while Ali Jaafar Madan
equalised for Bahrain.
“I think we played a very good first half as we dominated the game from
the start,” Sanchez said on Friday.
“In the second half we lacked in concentration for some minutes as
they were well organized. We did some defending mistakes,” he added.
“After the Bahrain goal it was difficult for us to come back. We
tried. We were direct and we were in their box often. We are out of
the competition.
“We could have been in semis. We congratulate the other teams who have
reached the semi-finals,” Sanchez said.
In the semifinals, Bahrain face Oman on Jan while Iraq taken on the
UAE in the other last-four clash.
