Qatar go down fighting in Doha friendly

DOHA: Hosts Qatar in Thursday put up a spirited display in a
hard-fought 2-1 loss against Azerbaijan.
Coached by Jorge Fossati, Qatar displayed a well-coordinated
game-plan stitching good moves at Al Sadd Stadium.
With strikers Sebastian Soria and Rodrigo Tabata getting valuable
match practice, Qatar attacked well in the first half.
Al Annabi even came close to scoring in the first half but the
Azerbaijan goalkeeper effected a few timely saves.
Azerbaijan made three substitutions at the start of the second
Azerbaijan took the lead in 51st minute but Qatar hit back Through
Ali Asad in the 55th minute.
Azerbaijan scored for the second time in the 61st minute and managed
to withstand Qatar pressure for the remainder of the friendly.
Qatar will now focus on training camp at home before getting ready
for two 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying games against Iran and
Uzbekistan at the end of March.
