DOHA: Qatar lost to Thailand 3-0 in their opening clash at a four-nation international friendly tournament.
The Qatar squad has entered the event in order to prepare for the U-17 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers to be played in September.
Qatar players offered stiff resistance in phases but unfortunately missed chances to score.
Qatar coach Miguel Angel opted for different players in the two halves in order to give players match practice.
In another match, hosts Hong Kong thrashed Singapore 6-0.
Team manager Jassim Sumaiti said: “The players did well. The result may not have been positive but it was a good fight.”
He added: “I am confident the players would do well in the coming days.”
“It is essential that the played get maximum match practice. The positive results will come,” he said.
