DOHA: striker Sayed Hassan netted 15 minutes into the match

to help Qatar to a much needed victory win over Bahrain in the

third round match in the under 19 Gulf Football Championship

currently being held at Aspire Academy.

This was Qatar’s first win in the annual tournament in the back

of two defeats at the hands of Saudi United Arab Emirates and

Oman respectively.

The August 22-September 3 round robin tournament features

teams from Qatar, the UAE, Bahrain, Oman and Saudi Arabia

competing for the regional title.

The team with the highest number of points will emerge winners

with all sides playing against each other once.

Qatar will conclude their matches in the tournament against Saudi

Arabia next Friday.

The Oscar Cano-coached Qatar side is currently preparing for the

U-19 Asian Cup to be held in Bahrain later this year.

Qatar are the defending champions, having won the previous

edition in October 2014.
