Qatar squad gets UK training camp going
DOHA: Qatar’s national squad under coach Felix Sanchez
has begun training in their extensive training camp in
Birmingham, United Kingdom, QFA said on Thursday.
The QFA also confirmed on Thursday that the Khalifa
International Stadium will host Qatar’s FIFA World Cup
qualifier on September 5.
The Qatar squad meanwhile has reached Birmingham
on Wednesday for their training camp.
Sanchez will lead his team in three friendlies during the
UK trip with the first match slated for August 9.
The second match will be played on the 13th against
Nottingham Forest. The last warm-up game against
Andorra will be played on August 16.
The team is camped at St. George’s Park, one of the
most important training centers in Europe. The center
is under the supervision of the English FA.
A QFA official said the Khalifa International Stadium will
be used for the second time after the Emir Cup final was
played in May this year.
The stadium has world-class cooling technology and the
temperatures inside the venue can be brought down to
9 degrees.
QFA said the Asian Football Confederation had approved
the venue for the September 5 clash.
