DOHA: The QNB Stars League Management has amended the teams’ playing schedule to be seen in action in the coming weeks.

The changes have been made to Round 18 matches that were to be held on March 6, 7 and 8, taking into account the teams set to play the quarter-final matches of the Amir Cup 2021.

The Al Wakrah vs Al Gharafa match date in Round 21 has been brought forward on March 16 as the latter will be playing their AFC Champions League match on April 7 against Uzbek club FC AGMK.

Another amendment was also made to the date of the matches of the last three rounds: (Round 20, 21 and 22) to accommodate AFC Champions League matches from April 14 to 30.

The QSL will announce the new dates, kick-off times and venues later, keeping in mind the teams’ positions on the rankings table.

If the AFC Champions League is not held on the new date, the QSL will end the season on the previously announced date of April 30.

Ahmed Khalil Abbasi, Vice Chairman of the Competitions Committee of QFA and Executive Director of Competitions and Football Development at QSL, said: “The recent amendments to QSL’s playing schedule has taken place to provide a preparation period that is ideal for the Qatar national team players before participating in the European qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in addition to the participation of Qatari clubs in the AFC Champions League.”

Abbasi added: “Coordination and consultations are underway with all concerned parties at present to complete the playing schedule whenever possible”.
