Qatar U-17 squad reach Hong Kong for friendly tournament
DOHA: A 20-member Qatar U-17 squad will leave Doha to feature in a
four-nation tournament to be held in Hong Kong from March 17 to 19.
Besides Qatar, Singapore, Thailand and hosts Hong Kong will take part
in the three-day event, details showed on Monday.
Qatar is taking part in the event to give the national junior players
the chance to get ‘quality match practice’ in the build up to the AFC
Asian Cup U-17, West Zone, qualifying matches to be played in
September.
Saeed Al Marri will head the Qatari delegation to Hong Kong with
Jassim Al Sumaiti as the team manager, QFA said on Monday.
Other team officials include Faisal Ahbabi, Saud Al-Shafi, and team
coach Spanish Miguel Angel.
Qatar play Thailand on March 17 followed by a game against Hong Kong
the next day. On the last day of the event, Qatar play Singapore.
The squad returns to Doha on March 20.
