DOHA: The Qatar Football Association (QFA) in cooperation with the
Asian soccer ruling body AFC successfully concluded a Level B coaching
workshop which attracted a huge batch of participants from around the
country.

The closing ceremony of the workshop was attended by Fahad Thani,
Director of the Development Department of QFA.

AFC coaching officials Badr Abdul Jalil and Abdul Qadir, the
accredited lecturer at the AFC, were also present at the concluding
ceremony. Qadir headed a series of lectures and theoretical
presentations during the workshop.

Fahd Fakhro and Wisam Shamil also attended the workshop.

“We believe in the importance of developing coaches because the coach
is an essential element in the development of the sport,” Fahd Thani
said in his closing remarks. “The courses were immensely useful and I
am confident that the participants are richer for the experience,” he
said.

The workshop also the participation of former Qatar national team
captain Wisam Rizq, Bashir and Nabil Anwar.

The trio engaged in wide-ranging debates on the finer elements of
coaching from different angles.

“Such workshops undoubtedly contribute effectively in the development
of any young coach. The capacity to improve in any individual gets
highlighted when he or she features at such workshops,” Fahad Thani
said.

“We are committed to promoting and developing the game as we eye the
future. I applaud the important lectures delivered by Abdul Qadir,
Wisam Shamil and Fahd Fakhro,” he said.

Fahad Thani said QFA remained keen to add to the coaching base in the
country, saying the Qatari football ruling body will continue to
conduct more coaching workshops in the future.

“Participants can feature at such workshops and get higher degree
certificates,” he said.

He also praised the presence of Qinda Al-Ali at the workshop,
underlining the importance of women’s participation at football
conferences.

“The QFA and AFC have put together a wonderful effort of continuing to
develop the game in this fashion. Stay tuned for more good news,”
Fahad Thani said.

AFC lecturer Qadir thanked ‘QFA for the tremendous support and will to
develop the sport in Qatar and in Asia’.

“We are only delighted to be here and spread the learning to as many
people as possible,” Qadir said at awards ceremony.

Former Qatar captain and Al Sadd stalwart Wisam said: “This workshop
highlights the intention of all stakeholders in developing the sport.
We gave some lectures on coaching from a player’s perspective. Our
ideas and thoughts were well received.”

“QFA and AFC are creating opportunities to cater to the next
generation of coaches and players. I am thrilled to be part of this
magnificent event,” Rizq, who played more than 10 internationals for
Qatar, said.

Certificates were handed out at the ceremony by Fahad Thani to all
those who featured at the workshop.
