DOHA: Qatar Football Association (QFA) on Wednesday announced that it
will be a ‘Gold Sponsor’ of this year’s Indian Community Festival.

The festival this year will be under the theme “A Passage to India”
and is set to take place on Thursday 28th November and Friday 29th
November at Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) Park from 4:00pm until
10:00pm.

“A Passage to India” Community Festival will be a unique event
showcasing India’s rich cultural diversity and achievements of modern
India in various spheres.

The event will further strengthen the historically strong ties of
friendship between India and Qatar, and promote cooperation between
the two countries, a press release said on Wednesday.

It would also foster goodwill and friendship among diverse expatriate
communities represented in Qatar, the statement added.

Commenting on the occasion, Khalid Al Kuwari, Director of Marketing
and Communication of QFA, said: “We are very proud to be the Gold
Sponsor of the Indian Community Festival this year as this
demonstrates our commitment to support the different communities in
Qatar by bridging the gaps between those diverse communities through
organising many community tournaments.”

He added: “Our participation serves as an opportunity for us to inform
the different communities about football in Qatar as well as the many
different tournaments and events QFA organizes and participates in.
Our stand will feature play station football games for the public and
other fun activities. Countless giveaways will also be distributed to
the visitors.”

QFA has previously worked on many different events with the Indian
community in Qatar by organising an iftar during the Holy Month of
Ramadan to celebrate the strong relationship and build on it to
further strengthen the bond.
The QFA and Qatar Indian Football Forum (QIFF) entered into a mutual
collaboration by which QFA provided required support and facilities to
QIFF in the conduct of 7th Inter District Football Tournament in which
16 football teams from Indian community participated.
The Inter-District Football Tournament is the most prominent and
highly participated sports event among Indian Community, the biggest
expatriate community in Qatar.
Supported by the Embassy of India in Qatar, the Festival will feature
several cultural programmes, including music and folk dances from
different parts of India; multi-media presentations; Indian arts and
handicrafts; delicious and diverse Indian cuisine; and other enjoyable
activities for people of all age groups.
Arrangements will be made to accommodate about 10,000 visitors on each
of the two days.
