Doha: The President of the Qatar Football Association (QFA), Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Bin Ahmed Al-Thani President received the President of the Philippine Football Federation (FPP) and FIFA Executive Committee Member, Mariano Araneta yesterday on Tuesday in QFA’s headquarters in Al Bidda Tower.

The FPP President was in the Qatari capital Doha as the Philippine National Team was playing a qualifier for the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019™ against Yemen, which was held yesterday, 10 October at Al Wakrah Stadium.

During the meeting they discussed the bilateral relations concerning football in the two countries.  They also discussed matters of mutual interest and the importance of developing them in the coming period in Qatar and the Philippines and ways to enhance the cooperation between the two associations.

At the end of the meeting, both Presidents stressed on the importance of building on the existing relationship between the two associations and developing them further in the future. Mariano also praised the role played by the QFA President which directly impacts football positively in the two countries.

Araneta also spoke about the recent draw against Yemen, which kept them at the top of the group by saying: “Our team is following a good plan which was exhibited in the match we drew in against Yemen, and I am looking forward to qualify for the Asian Cup 2019.
