QFA surprised as coach resigns
DOHA: Qatar Football Association (QFA) President on Tuesday expressed
his surprise at the resignation of coach Jorge Fossati.
Qatar on Tuesday beat Republic of Korea 3-2 in a 2018 FIFA World Cup
qualifying match at Al Sadd Stadium.
Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani said Fossati was given
a special task to the manage the national side.
He said the coach possessed good qualities as coach and did his
best. The QFA President said Fossati remained fully committed to
the team cause during his eight-month tenure.
The QFA President said Fossati remained a respected figure in Qatar
having managed top teams like Al Sadd and Al Rayyan.
He also said the QFA will talk to Fossati before deciding on a new
coach.
The QFA President said Qatar national teams in all age brackets will
continue to prepare for a busy season ahead.
