Four teams are set to compete in the semi-finals of the University League this weekend. The first match will kick off at 6pm on Thursday at Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development’s (QF) Recreation Center, pitch 1.

Last season’s football champions, Qatar University (QU), will take on Hamad bin Khalifa University (HBKU) after claiming first place in Group A with nine points. HBKU, Group B’s second place team, collected a total of four points.

The second semi-final of the night will kick off at 7pm. Group A’s second place team, Qatar Aeronautical College (QAC), who have six points, will play Group B’s first place winner, Northwestern University in Qatar (NU-Q), who have four points.

The tie breaker between NU-Q and HBKU was the win recorded by the former during their unique encounter in group stage matches in which NU-Q won HBKU 3-1.

Launched in 2013, the four-month competition brings together eight colleges and universities from across Qatar. The winners of the semi-finals will play the third place decider and final on February 23 at 6pm and 7pm, respectively.

The University League is a joint collaboration between the Qatar Football Association (QFA) and QF. The league supports both organizations’ desire to encourage young people to lead healthier, more active lifestyles through playing football.

The QFA entered into a strategic partnership with the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) in 2013 to support the University League and encourage greater community participation in football ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup™ in Qatar.
