DOHA: In-form goalie Saad Al Dossari on Tuesday celebrated his

team’s 1-0 win over Syria, saying the victory came at the ‘right

time’.

Striker Hassan Al Haydos converted a penalty in the 37th minute

at Al Sadd Stadium on Tuesday as Qatar scored their first win in

four matches.

“We needed this win. Now we have a chance of moving ahead. As

you saw we were playing a side that plays physical football,” Dossary

said after the tense 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying game.

“We missed a lot chances to score. Thank God they didn’t score.

They too had chances to sore. We had chances to score as well,” he

said.

About the friction in the game, the Al Sadd goalkeeper said:”You get

to see these things in football. It’s all gamesmanship. The second

half was better for both sides. The game was open. The free-kick was

the most dangerous chance for Syria.”

He added: “They changed their approach also in the second half when

they dropped one defender and retained three players at the back.”
