Doha: Twenty coaches have started their journey to obtain the continent’s highest coaching qualification, the AFC Professional Coaching Diploma, in Qatar.

The course for the ‘Pro Diploma’ as it is commonly known is being attended by 14 coaches from Kuwait, one from Saudi Arabia, four Serbians and one French participant.

The day is started with practical sessions for two hours in the morning with the rest of the day spent in the classroom to cover the theoretical lectures. Discussion about the theoretical research that the participants have to undertake is also part of the programme.

Both the theoretical and practical sessions are conducted at the Qatar Technical Committee Headquarters.

The course also included analyses of the recent semi-final and final matches of West Asian Football Federation’s (WAFF) Championship and a friendly between Real Madrid and French champions Paris Saint-Germain in Doha, Qatar, which the Spanish giants won 1-0.

The Pro Diploma course is for coaches who hold the ‘A’ Coaching Certificate as a minimum requirement. It is designed to teach the highest standards for club and national team levels and also aims to identify future instructors.
