Dubai: The second course for AFC Men Referees and Assistant Referees from the West and Central regions of Asia held in the UAE capital city comes to an end on Tuesday.

The four-day course aims to prepare the referees for refereeing duty next year and is the fourth and last course for referees and assistant referees throughout the continent held this year.

The first two courses were held earlier in Malaysian capital city Kuala Lumpur for those from the East, ASEAN and South regions. The first course in Dubai was completed on Thursday.

AFC consultant General (Rtd) Farouk Bouzo said during the course opening: “It has been my honour to be here with you and open the AFC Men’s Referee and Assistant Referee Course 2014 in Dubai.

Yoshimi Ogawa, AFC Director of Referees, said: “This is the first time in the AFC Refereeing Seminar that we combined the Men Referees and Assistant Referees in a course since 2006. We did however conduct a combined course during the AFC Asian Cup 2011 and last year’s Women Referees and Assistant Referees Course. From these two courses, we have seen the benefit of having a combined session and it will be a regular practice from now on.
