DOHA: Al Sadd’s Akram Afif was voted player of the year in Qatar for the second year in a row after the Board of Trustees of the Qatar Football Association Awards announced the award winners of 2019-20 season.

Afif, who was also named Asian player of the year, also shared the Mansour Muftah Award for the top scorer with Yacine Brahimi of Al Rayyan, with both scoring 15 goals.

Brahimi and Edmilson, of Al Duhail, were Akram’s rivals for the Best Player award but the Qatar international was clearly the favourite and it reflected in the landslide victory as he bagged 60.91 percent of the votes.

Al Sadd scooped another award with Tarek Salman being declared the Best Under-23 Player in the country.

Diego Aguirre of Al Rayyan was voted the Best Coach, the Uruguayan won 64.6 percent of the votes.

Football For All Award

This award is given by the QFA Award Board of Trustees to organisations, groups or individuals making a significant contribution towards football in the local community. The winners are: Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Interior, Aspetar Hospital and Qatar Red Crescent. For their great efforts and contribution towards resumption of football activity this season.

Best Referees Award

The quartet of Abdulrahman Al Jassim, Taleb Salem (first assistant), Faisal Eid (second assistant) and Abdullah Al Athba (Video Assistant Referee).

Mansour Muftah Award for Top Scorer

Akram Afif & Yacine Brahimi. They shared the award with 15 goals each in the league.

Best Under-23 Player

Tarek Salman of Al Sadd. He obtained the highest percentage (53.9%) in the final voting process.

Best Coach

Diego Aguirre of Al Rayyan. He received the highest percentage (64.6%) in the final voting process.

Best Player

Akram Afif of Al Sadd. He obtained the highest percentage (60.91%) in the final voting process.
