DOHA: Mansour Al-Ansari, General Secretary of the Qatar Football Association, participated in the first meeting of the Financial Committee of the West Asian Football Federation (WAFF), which was held via video conference on Thursday, May 6, 2021. The meeting was presided by Ali Al-Mutairi from Kuwait, in the presence of the WAFF General Secretary Khalil Al-Salem, and Deputy Chairman of the Committee Ali Al-Buainain (Bahrain) and the members: Abdullah Kaboha (Saudi Arabia), Mansour Al-Ansari / (Qatar), Hassan Bashnfar (Yemen), Ahmad Qamaruddin (Lebanon), Colonel Zakaria Kanat (Syria), Louie Oumeish (Jordan).

At the meeting, the WAFF Financial Committee approved the financial statements of the recent past and upcoming years.

After ensuring that the quorum was completed for the meeting, Al-Mutairi welcomed the attendees. And expressed his thanks and appreciation to WAFF President His Highness Prince Ali bin Al Hussein and the Executive Office members for placing their confidence in them as members of the committee, which seeks to work in a coordinated manner to oversee all financial matters.

Following this, Al-Salem presented the audited financial statements for the fiscal year 2020, the independent auditor’s report, a review of current and non-current assets, a list of revenues and expenditures and the related explanations.

The committee was briefed on the financial position of the WAFF in terms of receivables due up to April 30, 2021, and the estimated budget for 2021, and the expected revenues and expenses it contains.

The committee was informed of the decision of the Executive Office of the WAFF during its last meeting to mandate financial fees on the federations participating in the Futsal Championships, to cover the costs of the tournaments as they are not subject to the support provided by FIFA, and there are no financial allocations for them. Accordingly, it was agreed to recommend the Chairman of the Finance Committee to set fees for each tournament when the hosting association is determined.

The WAFF tournaments that are not subject to the support of FIFA and do not have financial allocations are the U-23 championships, the men’s and women’s futsal championships, the beach football championships, and the e-tournaments.
