DOHA: Al Markhiya and Qatar Sports Club surged ahead in their Qatargas League title race by posting key wins over the weekend.


Al Markhiya beat El Jaish 2-1 at Doha Stadium in a round eight clash.


Allen Souza struck twice for Al Markhiya while Hamza fired the lone goal for El Jaish who lost Mohammed Al Jabri in the 90th minute through a red card.

Meanwhile Qatar SC crushed Al Sadd 4-1 at Al Ahli Stadium.

Michael Baba (22), Ali Awad (74), Gregory Victor (78), and Dr. Abdullah (90) scored for Qatar SC while the only goal for Al Sadd was scored by Mishal Al-Shammari in the 67th minute.

In another game, Al Shamal beat Al Ahli, posting a 5-1 win.

In what seemed like a one-side game, the referee penalised five players with yellow cards.


In another game, Al Kharaitiyat crushed Umm Salal 6-2. Al Kharaitiyat were leading 3-1 at the end of the first half.

Abdulhadi Numan scored a hat-trick for the winners.

In a tense clash, Muaither played a 3-3 draw against Al Gharafa at Al Sailiyajh Stadium.

In a one-side clash, football giants Al Rayyan hammered Lekhwiya 5-0 at Al Ahli Stadium.

Ahmed Alaa (two goals) was well supported by Karbi, Abdulrahman Al Saud and Sultan Al-Hajri in Al Rayyan’s impressive performance.


In the last game of the week, Al Wakrah beat Al Sailiyah 3-1.
