DOHA: Brazilian playmaker Rodrigo Tabata netted a brace as Al Sadd defeated a disjointed El Jaish 3-1 to draw five clear on top of the Qatar Stars League table.

At the Al Sadd Stadium on Friday, Jaish managed to stretch the former champions goalless until the hour mark.

Tabata then broke the deadlock while Hassan Al Haidous made it 2-0 two minutes later. Former Besiktas player Tabata then swirled home a free-kick in the 82nd before defender Lucas Mendes pulled one back for the armymen five minutes later.

Al Sailiya beat Al Arabi 2-1 in another game. Iranian forwardAshkan Dejagah put Arabi ahead in the 53rd while Sailiya drew parity due to aMousa Baraka own goal in the 56th. Sailiya found the the lead a minute later throughAbdulrahman Al Harazi and successfully defended it.

Al Shamal and Al Shahaniya played out a 1-1 draw while the day’s other game between Umm Salal and Qatar Sports Club ended goalless, with both teams finishing the game with one man less.
