DOHA: On Saturday, the curtain fell on the eighth week of the Qatargas U-23 League competition, with Al Sadd winning over Al Gharafa 2-1 at Al Shamal Stadium.

Al Sadd are at the top of points table with a goal difference against Al Rayyan.

Al Sadd’s goals were scored by Hassan Ahmad Balnak (19th minute) and Ali Asdallah (41) while Al Gharafa scored the only goal through Muhammad Ali Jamin (62nd minute).

In the second match, which was held at Al Sailiya Stadium, Al Wakrah defeated Al Khor 2-0. Abdul Halim Mahmoud (45) and Faisal Abdullah Al Borshid (85) scored the goals for Al Wakra.

In the third and final match, which was held at Al-Khor Stadium, Al Duhail drew with Al Arabi 1-1.

Al Arabi’s goal was scored by Muhammad Issa Al-Mohammadi in the 30th minute and Al Duhail’s equaliser was scored by Jassim Mohammed Al Muhairi in the 65th minute.

The eighth round of the competition began on Thursday and saw Al Rayyan win over Umm Salal (4-3), Qatar SC defeated Al Sailiya (2-0) and Al Ahly tied with Al Kharaitiyat (3-3).

With the end of the eighth round, the overall ranking changed, especially in the first five positions.

Al Sadd now lead the ranking with 18 points, ahead of Al Rayyan (18), Al Wakrah (17), Al Gharafa (17), Al Duhail (17), Qatar SC Club (12), Al Khor (9), Umm Salal (9), Al Arabi (8), Al Sailiya (6), Al Kharaitiyat (4) and Al Ahli (4).
