DOHA: Al Sadd’s chances of retaining the Qatar Stars League title are as good as over.

In their 19th-round game on Thursday,Housseine Amouta’s boys twice came from behind, but had to settle for a 2-2 draw with Al Wakra.

Argentinian striker Sebastian Saez twice put Wakra ahead, in the 11th and 81st minutes, while Sadd bounced back through new recruit Rodrigo Tabata (56th) and Nadir Belhadj (90th).

Sadd, who have a game in hand, are third, but 12 points adrift of leaders and two-time champions Lekhwiya.

Meanwhile, Al Arabi kept alive their hopes of finishing among the top four with a 1-0 win over Qatar Sports Club, with Brazilian defender Orestes scoring the all-important goal.
