DOHA: Al Wakra edged past Muaither 2-1 in their Second Division match at the

Khalifa International Stadium.

Al-Wakra move up to 9 points and advance to second place, taking advantage of

Mesaimeer’s loss to Al Shamal.

With the latest result, Muaither’s lead has dropped and they are in 5th place with

3 points.

The match was exciting and strong from the start as Muaither opened the scoring

through Mohammed Lamine.

Al Wakra pressed hard until they equalized through Meiji Yusuf in the 22nd minute.

Al Wakra continued their offensive lead as Anthony Basi scored the winner in the

45th minute.

Al Wakra managed to maintain their lead until referee Abdulrahman Al Jassem

announced the end of the match.

Thee game witnessed the yellow card three times: Abdul Ghafoor (Muaither),  Sultan

Al Enezi (Al Wakra) and Jassem Ahmed Al-Jalabi (Al Wakra).

In the second game hosted by Al-Sailiya Stadium, Al Shamal beat Mesaimeer 1-0.

Al Shamal (9 points) are behind Al Shahaniya (14) and Al Wakra (10) in the overall


Mohammed Reza Majidi scored the only goal of the hardfought clash in the 34th minute

for Al Shamal.

Referee Mishari Ali Shammari penalised five players with yellow cards: Sulemani

Ndikomana, Abdul Rahman Samir and Khaled Jibrati (Mesaimeer).
