DOHA: Khaled Mubarak Al-Kuwari, Director of Marketing and Communication of the Qatar Football Association (QFA), chaired a meeting to discuss the preparations of the Round of 16 of the 2020 Amir Cup.

The meeting was held with attendance of representatives of Al Sadd, Al Gharafa, Al Ahli, Al Rayyan, Al Khor, Al Wakrah, Qatar SC, Umm Salal, Muaither, Mesaimeer and Al Khairaitiyat.

The meeting focused on discussing the marketing issues related to the event now into its 48th edition.

The Round of 16 matches will be held in February.

The latest round of discussion centered around the new system that has been implemented and the attendance rate during the previous 10 seasons – starting from the 2010 season until last season 2019 season.

Officials disclosed a tally of 900,372 spectators attending the matches in the past 10 seasons.

Ticket selling mechanism for the ongoing season was also discussed in detail.

Commenting on the results of the meeting, Al-Kuwari said: “The meeting was very fruitful. The meeting was called in to discuss matters relating to the 2020 Amir Cup. We are following a new system and hence the meeting called to discuss key points.”

He added: “We are expecting keen contests among the remaining teams. The enthusiasm remains high among the players, officials and organisers. Our discussions also centered around marketing aspects of the event. The clubs are also keen to play their part in promoting the championship.”

The QFA Director said: “Ideas and suggestions from the club reps have been very interesting. I have assured the ones who attended the meeting that QFA remains committed to taking everyone on board with regards to promoting the event.”

Al Kuwari said more meetings are to be held in the coming days and weeks.
