DOHA: Doha will host the Total CAF Super Cup next February after Qatar Football Association (QFA) and Confederation of African Football (CAF) signed an agreement on Wednesday.

Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, President of the Qatar Football Association (QFA), and Ahmad Ahmad, President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), on Wednesday signed the Doha hosting agreement for the African Total Super Cup clash between Espérance Sportive de Tunis and Moroccan side Raja Casablanca.

The game is likely to be held in late February. QFA and CAF are expected to reveal further details of the event in the next few days, officials said on Wednesday.

Espérance Sportive de Tunis won the Total Caf Champions League title at the expense of Al Ahly of Egypt while Raja of Moroco won the Total CAF Confederation Cup title after beating AS Vita Club of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Ahmad, who is in Doha to attend the FIFA Executive Football Summit, praised Qatar’s preparation to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

“The next FIFA World Cup in Qatar would be the most memorable of all editions,” Ahmed said on Wednesday. “People now know Qatar sets high standards when it comes hosting top class sports events and football tournaments in particular,” he added.

“Qatar now is hosting the FIFA Executive Football Summit in a very professional manner. Their confidence reflects their ambition of hosting a great World Cup,” he said.
