Doha: The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC)’s Generation Amazingprogramme and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Dream Asia Foundation have signed a long-term partnership which will see both programmes collaborate across legacy and education areas throughout Asia for the coming four years.

Generation Amazing is the human and social legacy programme initiated during Qatar’s successful bid for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ in 2010, which uses the power of sport to positively impact lives and create sustainable social development in communities.

The signing ceremony for the Memorandum of Understanding was held in Paris on Sunday 2 June.

Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, the AFC President, said: “The AFC puts football for social development at the heart of all our work and since the launch of the AFC Dream Asia Foundation we are proud to have conducted 33 projects in 21 Asian member associations. We are looking forward to working with Generation Amazing to deliver even more projects for the benefit of young people across our continent.”

The value-in-kind partnership will see both sides engaging in joint football for development initiatives in countries including Lebanon and the Philippines.

“We have always been committed to ensuring that the legacy of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 extends beyond our borders, and Generation Amazing is an important vehicle for achieving that aim,” said SC Secretary General H.E. Hassan Al Thawadi. “Partnering with the AFC will assist us in reaching more beneficiaries and support our aim of utilising the immense power of football to enhance inclusion, strengthen community bonds and improve lives.”

So far more than 250,000 beneficiaries have been reached through Generation Amazing across seven countries in Asia: Qatar, Nepal, Pakistan, Jordan, Lebanon, the Philippines and India.
