BASRAH, Iraq: The Gulf Cup “25” draw was held at the Grand Millennium Hotel in Basra on Tuesday.

Asian Cup champions Qatar have been drawn in Group B along with Bahrain, Kuwait and the UAE.

In Group A, hosts Iraq have been tagged along with Yemen, Saudi Arabia and Oman.

The hugely popular event will be held from January 6 to 19, 2023. The draw ceremony was attended by QFA President Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani, the head of the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation (AGCFF).

The Minister of Youth and Sports in Iraq, the head of the Iraqi Football League, Adnan al-Basrani, and Mu’hafiz al-Saad al-Basrani also attended the ceremony, as did Jassim Al-Rumaihi, the general secretary of AGCFF.

Team coaches, media representatives and members of the local organising committee were also present.

Hamad Al-Hajri, a representative of AGCFF, conducted the draw ceremony, which was also attended by Habib Jafar, former football star of Iraq, and Jamal Mubarak, the former star of Kuwait. Officials of Bahrain – holders of the title of the Gulf Cup 24 – were also present.
