“Layan Campaign” was setup by a group of great positive youth from The Gulf in order to provide help and assistance to Syrian refugees in north Lebanon. The campaign was named after a Syrian girl “Layan”; a baby who did not exceed seven months old and was suffering from heart disease leading to the deterioration of her health.

The Coach donated the prize money to the Lekhwiya club football player, Adel Lamy as he is one of the organisers that contributes greatly to the Layan Campaign.

The award was given at the Qatar Football Association (QFA) stand in Aspire4Sport Exhibition and Conference in Doha by Mansoor Al Ansari, Director of National Teams Committee and Hani Balan, QFA Executive Committee Member.

Staab is a German Head Coach currently in charge of Qatar women’s national football team. Her influence on women’s football in Qatar has been tremendous since she took charge in February, 2013, by allowing more girls and women to play football at a professional level and thus having a direct impact on football development and growth.

Monika Staab has already taught football in more than 60 countries and supports mainly women’s and youth football: ‘‘I am happy to receive the nomination, because it stresses the important aspects of my work. I am also delighted that Qatar enthusiastically wants to promote women’s sport. “
