MANILA: Qatar up and coming playmaker Ahmed Moeen, who led Qatar to win the AFC U-19 championship for the first time earlier this year, was unanimously named AFC U-19 Player of the Year on Sunday.

Moeen wore the armband in all of Qatar’s six matches in the tournament before winning the player of the tournament award as well.

In the night’s biggest award, Saudi Arabia striker Nasser Al Shaamrani was named Asian player.

Palestine were named best national team for their feat in winning the AFC Challenge Cup, a victory which earned them a berth at next year’s Asian Cup in Australia.

Australia’s Crystal Palace midfielder Mile Jedinak won international player of the year, and best foreign player went to Al Ain’s Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan.
