DOHA: Qatar Football Association (QFA) and Ooredoo signed a one year partnership agreement today at Al Bidda Tower that announces Ooredoo as the main telecommunications partner for the Emir Cup 2014.

Signing this partnership agreement reiterates QFA and Ooredoo’s commitment towards the most important and popular football tournament in the country.

As part of the company’s goals to promote sports in the community, the partnership was launched under the slogan, “The People’s Cup”, to encourage people to attend and watch the matches.

To promote the tournament, Ooredoo has planned to host activities in different locations acrossthe city to promote the tournament and these include a Screaming booth where fans have thechance to go in and record their voice by saying the word “goal” and the fan that scores the longest time will get an ETR number worth QAR 25,000.

The screaming booth will be located in Katara and in Landmark Mall and is set to open on 1st The second promotional activity Ooredoo is organising is an Instagram Competition where Ooredoo will ask fans to post a picture and write down a slogan or sentence about their favourite football club that is participating in the tournament and hashtag the word #EmirCup2014.

Best pictures with best slogans/sentence will be chosen by Ooredoo, and then Instagrammers will be asked to vote for the best one. Winners will get their slogan/sentence and favourite club’s photo printed on T-shirts and given to them.

He added: “We are organising a number of activities in connection with Qatar Football Association’s the Emir Cup throughout the tournament, as a way to bring “The People’s Cup” to the diverse population of Qatar.”

It is worth mentioning that the Emir Cup is the last tournament of the season and is one of themost popular tournaments in the country. The final match will take place on 17th May and will be held in Khalifa International Stadium. The Emir Cup 2014 runs from 21st April until 17th May and matches are played in four stadia, Al Arabi Stadium, Qatar Sports Club, Al Sadd Stadium and Khalifa International Stadium.
