DOHA: The third round of Qatar Stars League (QSL) matches will be
played on September 26 and 27, it was announced by officials.

Initially the games were to be played on September 22 and 23 but due
to Eid Al Adha holidays, the program has been moved to next week,
officials added.

The new changes were announced at a press conference attended by Hamad
Al Mannai, chairman of the competition committee of Qatar Football
Association (QFA), Ahmed Abbasi, Director of Operations in Naional Teams

Committee, and Ahmed Harami, Executive Director of the Competitions, QSL,

Hassan Rabia Al Kuwari, Events Manager, QSL, was also present.

“We make changes to our programs only when it is necessary,” Al Mannai said.

“And when we do makes changes, we inform all our stakeholders and that
includes our fans also,” he added.

“The latest changes are made after careful consideration on the Eid
holidays in Qatar,” he said.

“We expect good crowd turnouts since we know families like to step out
and appear at games during national holidays,” he said.

Harami said the changes are first made to games involving venues in
Doha where the density of football fans is greater than other parts of
the country.

The change in kick-offs this week is also done to allow players and
officials at games to accommodate evening prayers.

Al Kuwari informed that the gate proceeds from the tickets sold in the
next three weeks will be extended to the Syrian refugees.

Al Kuwari said he urged fans to turn up in large numbers so that
greater amount of money could be generated through gate receipts.

QFA official Abbasi thanked the clubs for accommodating the changes
that help the national team players prepare better for games and
training camps.

He said Qatar national Olympic team will resume their training for the
West Asian U23 Championship where they will play the first game on
September 30.

Abbasi said Qatar national team is expected to play a series of
friendlies in the coming weeks. He said the rival teams have not been
finalized yet.

Qatar will play the friendlies to prepare for 2018 FIFA World Cup and
2019 Asian Cup joint qualifying matches in the net six months.
