DOHA: Qatar on Friday take on African giants Nigeria in their 2019 FIFA World Cup opener.

Qatar’s clash against Nigeria will be the first of four matches on the second day of the 24-team event.

In other matches Honduras face New Zealand, Uruguay battle Norway while Ukraine take on the United states of America.

Qatar, coached by Bruno Miguel, arrived in Poland on May 19 following training camps in France and Slovakia.

The players have arrived fully prepared for the May 24-July 15 tournament. QFA President Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Bin Ahmed Al Thani on Monday met with the players during a training camp.

The squad has been undergoing training twice a day since arriving in Poland, team official said on Thursday.

Qatar also featured in a series of friendlies including matches against South Africa, France, Albania and Belgium.

This is the fourth time Qatar is featuring in the U-20 event. In 1981, Qatar finished runners-up.
