DOHA:The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SCDL) and Qatar Foundation (QF) unveiled the design of the new stadium, which is one of the proposed venues for the 2022 World Cup.

The unveiling of the Qatar Foundation Stadium took place on the fourth anniversary of the country winning the right to host the World Cup and is one of five stadiums under construction by the SCDL and its partners.

The event was attended by Prime Minister HE Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Minister of Youth and Sport HE Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser Al Ali and Qatar Olympic Committee Secretary General Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

The stadium will have a capacity of 40,000 and as with all proposed World Cup venues, will feature innovative cooling technology, which will provide comfortable playing and viewing conditions for fans and players alike.

The design of the state-of-the-art stadium will see light filtered through complex geometrical patterns, an innovative and unique element of the stadium design, and will be located at Education City, the home of QF.

The stadium and associated precinct is expected to be completed in 2018.
