AL AIN, United Arab Emirates: Qatar on Friday picked up three points to surge ahead in race to qualify for the 2015 Asian Cup with an impressive 4-1 win against ‘hosts’ Yemen.

Sebastian Soria (4) opened the scoring early in the Group D encounter at Sheikh Khalifa International Stadium but Yemen struck back with Ala Al Sasi (26) for the equalizer.

However, despite losing striker Khalfan Ibrahim for the second half, Qatar were guided home by Abdulkareem Hassan (32) and Mohammed Kasola (54) and Mohammed El Sayed (68).

Reliable Qatar forward Ibrahim was benched in the 46th minute due to suspected leg injury.

Qatar, who have 9 points from four matches, now fly to Kuala Lumpur for their next match against hosts Malaysia on November 19.

Yemen have lost all their four matches. They also went down to Qatar 6-0 last month in Doha.

The 2015 AFC Asian Cup qualification matches will determine the participating teams for the event to be held in Australia A total of 16 teams will compete in the 2015 AFC Asian Cup.
