Lugano, Switzerland: Kick-starting their key one-week training camp that involves two heavyweight friendlies, Qatar players on Monday launched their training under the watchful eyes of coach Felix Sanchez.

Qatar squad of 25 players and backroom staff arrived in the Swiss city of Lugano two days ago to play against Switzerland on November 14.

The marrons will then travel to the Belgian city of Eupen to face Iceland on November 19.

The players will be playing friendly matches and undergoing special training sessions in the coming days.

Squad: Saad Al Sheeb (goalkeeper), Pedro Miguel, Salem Al Hajri, Tarek Salman, Abdul Karim Hassan, Boualem Khoukhi, Hassan Al Heidos and Akram Afif (Al Sadd). Bassam Hisham Al-Rawi, Sultan Al-Barik, Asim Madbo, Mohammed Mousa, Kareem Boudiaf Ali Afif and Al-Moaz Ali (Al-Duhail), Yousuf Hassan (goalkeeper), Abdul Aziz Hatem and Ahmad Alaa (Al Gharafa) and Abdul Karim Salim Al Ali (Al Sailiya) Mohammed Alaa (Al Rayyan) Ahmed Fathi (Al Arabi) Ali Awad and Jassim Al Hail (Qatar) Mohammed Bakri (goalkeeper) (Al Khor) and Abdulrahman Fathi (Al Ahli).

Coach Felix Sanchez will be looking to test his players against formidable opposition in a bid to form a powerful side in the build-up to the 2019 Asian Cup set to take place next January in the United Arab Emirates.

In the 2019 Asian Cup, Qatar will be playing against Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and North Korea in Group E.
