Qatar squad leaves for West Asia Youth Championship
DOHA: Qatar squad coached by Fabio Ceasar has left for Palestine to feature in the first West Asia Football Federation Youth Championship.
The tournament – to be held from August 22 to 30 – will feature teams from Jordan, Bahrain, Iraq, the UAE besides Qatar and hosts Palestine.
The tournament draw took place in Ramallah in the presence of West Asian Football Federation and representatives of Palestinian Football Federation along with officials of the organising committee.
According to the rules of the tournament, the matches of each group will be held in a single-stage league with the group leaders and second-placed qualify for the semi-finals.
The eventual two finalists meet in the final of the tournament.
There will also be a match to determine the third and fourth places, and a match to determine the fifth and sixth places.
The tournament matches will be held at the Faisal Husseini Stadium in the north of occupied Jerusalem.
The Qatar team will open the tournament with a match against Jordan next Saturday at 4:00 pm. In the second clash, Qatar play with Palestine on Monday 26th at 7:00 pm.
Qatar team’s participation in the West Asian Championship comes within the framework of its preparations for the Asian Youth Under-19 Championship 2020 where Al Anabi will meet Yemen, Turkmenistan and Sri Lanka in Doha in November.
The Qatar squad: Yousef Abdullah, Abdullatif Hassan, Abdullah Al Ali, Fahd Al Abdullah, Faisal Mohammed, Talal Ibrahim, Mohammed Mousa, Saif Abdul Rahman and Abdullah Yousif Abdul Rahman Hassan, Nayef Abdul Rahim, Makki Ali, Khalid Ali, Abdulrahman Bilal, Jassim Adel, Abdullah Al-Sulaiti, Jassim Mohammed and Diab Haroun, Hadi Ali, Osama Abdulkarim, Ahmed Al Tayeb and Mohammed Abdulwahab.
