DOHA: Qatar University (Team 1) claimed the title of the inaugural edition of the Qatar Universities League after beating University of Calgary 3-0 at the Qatar Foundation Recreation Center.

Last week, both finalists advanced tothe final after beating Qatar Aeronautical College and Qatar University (3) respectively

The action-packed tournament kicked-off on Thursday, the 24th of
October, 2013. The competition involved a total of 17 teams from 12
colleges and universities across Qatar.

Khalid Al Kuwari, Director of Marketing and Communications at Qatar
Football Association (QFA) said: “Excitement levels are rising as we
get closer to the end of the Qatar Universities Football League. We
are thrilled to find out who will be this year’s champion and
congratulate the four teams who made it to the final stages of the
tournament as well as all the other participating teams, they all
played so well and displayed good sportsmanship.”

He added: “Organising this tournament with QF showcases QFA’s
commitment in nurturing the football culture in Qatar, especially
amongst the youth. It also highlights QFA’s efforts in encouraging the
youth to adopt a healthy lifestyle through playing football.”

Sponsored by Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee, the Qatar Universities
Football League is organised by Qatar Foundation, in collaboration
with QFA.
