DOHA: Midfielder Khalid Muneer opened the scoring as Qatar were held to a 1-1 draw by Djibouti in the Arab U-17 championship on Sunday at Saoud bin Abdulrahman Stadium, in a result which qualifies Qatar to the semi-finals as Group A winners alongside second placed Djibouti.

Muneer had given Qatar the lead on 28 minutes, but Mousa Ahmed’s riposte seven minutes after the re-start was a deserved leveler from a Djibouti side who matched the hosts in both skill and resolve.

And with both sides beating Mauritania in their previous Group match, they now await for the final round of Group B, in Which Iraq take on Palestine, while Sudan face group leaders Saudi Arabia.
