DOHA: Qatar Football Association’s (QFA) Development Department has concluded a training course for young coaches in cooperation with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

A total of 23 coaches featured in the course, QFA announced on Sunday.

“The Development Department of QFA is the first to organize such a coaching workshop in an effort to increase the number of coaches in the region,” QFA said.

The session was attended by Fahad Thani, Director of Development Department of QFA, Mohammed Al Hashimi, Strategic Advisor of the Development Department, and Abdul Qader Al-Moghaseb, the AFC lecturer representing Qatar.

Fahd Thani said at the closing ceremony: “I would like to express my thanks and appreciation on behalf of His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani, President of the Qatar Football Association, and the members of the Executive Office of the Federation. It has been a positive sign to see so many participants featuring with a keen ambition to learn and improve.”

He thanked the AFC for agreeing to hold this course, the first of its kind in Asia, in Doha.

Fahad Thani said the participants stood to gain a lot from attending the lectures and practicals delivered during the course.

“QFA remains committed in developing the sport on and off the pitch. We have seen such workshops and training courses held in Doha over the years. This trend will continue to take the game forward not just in Qatar but the in Asian continent as well,” Fahad Thani concluded in his speech.
