DOHA: The first phase of the Asian Professional Diploma ‘PRO’ training

course has been launched by the Qatar Football Association (QFA) in

cooperation with the Asian Football Federation (AFC).

The opening ceremony was attended by Fahd Thani, Director of the

Development Department at QFA.

Eric Müller, the German lecturer, who will oversee the presentation of

theoretical and practical session during the course, was also in attendance.

“We are delighted to meet with all the participants at this football course

that will enable budding coaches to obtain the highest training certificates

in the field of football,” Fahad Thani said in his opening remarks.

“I would also like to thank the AFC for organizing this course in a bid to

achieve a solid ground in terms of preparing the coaches for the course

that matter a lot,” he said.

“The Asian Football Federation is in the process of urging coaches around

the region to obtain the PRO certificates. Attending this course will help

the participants keep pace with the recent developments,” he said.

“The participants from Qatar stand to gain a lot by attending the lectures

and the practical sessions to be headed by Mr Eric Mueller,” Fahad Thani


Mueller thanked the QFA for arranging what he called a ‘very important

training course’.

“I urged the participants to make the most of the course,” Mueller said.

The course is attended by 26 students including coaches of Al Duhail, Al-

Sailiya, Muaither and former coach of the Iraqi team Hakim Shaker.

“The transfer of knowledge is very important. And that transfer of knowledge

with modern tools helps the game race a new level of popularity,” Mueller


t is worth mentioning that the course will be held in five stages. The first

phase includes the latest training methods for physical preparation as per

European specifications to obtain the European certificate.

The second phase will focus on the tactical aspects of defence and the

latest methods of defence tactics.

The fourth stage will deal with modern methods of playing and dealing with

the players and the professional teams.

The fifth phase of the final will be summarizing of the four stages by providing

jobs assigned to each coach to implement and display their potential.

The course also includes a presentation of the philosophy of each training

coach and how to develop sport in each country according to the best methods

reached by modern football science.

The key dates are:

– The second phase – Feb 18-27

– The third phase –  April 7-26

– The fourth phase – October 7-13

– The fifth phase – December 8-28
