DOHA: Players and team officials of Al Duhail and Muaither marked the World Cancer Day with children recovering from the disease by walking out together before the start of their Amir Cup match.

Qatar Football Association (QFA) and Qatar Cancer Society joined hands to help create awareness at the match which was played at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium.

QFA’s Marketing and Communication’s Director Khalid Al Kuwari said: “This was another effort to raise awareness on QFA’s social responsibility objectives. Our participation with children recovering from cancer stems from our social responsibility towards our local communities. It is our duty to bring a smile on the faces of children who, thank to God, were able to overcome it with their will and their determination.”

Al Kuwari added: “We were keen to participate in this day, which falls on the fourth of February of each year, as it is an annual demonstration organized by the International Cancer Federation to raise global awareness of the risks of cancer.”
