DOHA: The Qatar Football Association (QFA) participated in the ‘I’m Vaccinated & I’ve Donated’ campaign, in cooperation with the Qatar Red Crescent Society, which launched the humanitarian initiative to support the provision of the Covid-19 vaccines for refugees, displaced persons and migrants around the world, which comes as part of a wide international advocacy campaign that includes a number of national societies, international organizations and Qatari institutions.

The initiative aims to provide Covid-19 vaccines for the benefit of 3,650,000 people from the most vulnerable groups in refugee, displaced and migrant communities, as well as mobilizing support and funding for everyone’s right to receive vaccination against Covid-19, and finally, promoting and encouraging vaccination against Covid-19. This is in addition to a worldwide campaign to organize support at the level of states, institutions and individuals, in partnership with international and local media.

The QFA’s participation in this initiative comes as part of its aim to enhance its role in society, within the framework of social responsibility. Football remains an effective and flexible tool to promote the goals of peace and development, considering its role in encouraging tolerance and respect and its contribution to empowering women, youth, individuals and societies, and in achieving goals in the fields of health, education and social inclusion.

At the same time, the QFA has continued with its pioneering role in social responsibility by participating “Donate to Build Their Future” initiative launched by the Education Above All (EAA) Foundation, at the beginning of the blessed month of Ramadan, to collect donations with the aim of supporting the most vulnerable and marginalized children in the world with the educational opportunities they desperately need.

The campaign aims to support children’s access to safe, quality and equitable education in order to unleash their potential and create a better future for them, their families and their communities.

The campaign will continue to support EAA Foundation projects around the world with a special focus on supporting children in Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, Syria and Palestine, and the “Together” project in Qatar, especially as the Covid-19 pandemic has exacerbated many pre-existing barriers that prevent the education of millions of children around the world, in addition to other barriers such as conflict, poverty and insecurity.

The participation of the QFA in this initiative comes within its social responsibility programme for the 2020-2021 season, especially as the two sides have cooperated previously with much success in similar initiatives previously. The QFA and the EAA Foundation have a cooperation agreement in this regard, which covers a lot programmes at the local and international levels.

The QFA believes, without a doubt, that football has become a major factor in equipping and preparing young people with life skills and increasing the sense of sportsmanship. It is our commitment to encourage all sectors of the society to participate in the most popular game in the world, by integrating football with the local and regional communities, by means of targeted social programmes that seek to involve these sectors in the tournaments and competitions organized by the QFA and also together with the EAA Foundation, through various activities suitable for all ages.
