QFA President meets Ecuador football, embassy officials
DOHA: Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, President of the Qatar Football Association (QFA), on Saturday hosted a luncheon in honor of the President of the Ecuadorian Football Confederation (FEF), Carlos Villacis and his accompanying delegation.
The FEF delegation included Galo Sénchez, Director, Rémulo Aguilar, Director, Pepe Mosquera, Director, Oswaldo Crespo. Director Acting, Jorge Salazar, National teams, Mayra Arguello, President of Olmedo SC, and Alberto Jara, Vice President of Técnico Universitario SC.
Also present at the luncheon were Ecuadorian Ambassador to Qatar H E Yvonne Baki and other embassy officials.
The QFA delegation included Saoud Al Mohanadi, Tarek Al Naama, Ibrahim Khalil Al Mohanadi, Mansoor Al Ansari, Mushtaq Al Waeli, Ahmed Al Boanain and Ahmed Abbassi.
The two sides also exchanged views on ways to develop football besides looking at methods to improve diplomatic relations between the two friendly nations.
The QFA President presented QFA’s logo and a football jersey to FEF chief who returned the compliment with a similar friendly gesture.
The meeting took place following the friendly match between the two countries on Friday which Qatar won 4-3 at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.
During their stay in Doha, the Ecuadorian delegation visited the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy and got to see Qatar’s preparations for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
In a friendly gesture this summer, Qatar was invited to participate in the Copa America 2019 tournament in Brazil from June 14 to July 7, 2019. QFA accepted the invite.
