Doha: The President of the Qatar Football Association (QFA), Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Bin Ahmed Al-Thani received the Presidents and Vice Presidents of five Nordic Football Associations today Monday, on January 7 at QFA’s headquarters in Al Bidda Tower.

Attending the meeting from Nordic Football Association were President of the Football Association of Norway, Terje Svendsen, President of the Danish Football Association, Jesper Moller, Vice President of Swedish Football Association, Jorgen Eriksson, General Secretary of Swedish Football Association, Hakan Sjostrand, President of the Football Association of Finland, Ari Lahti, and Vice President of the Faroe Islands Football Association, Roin O. J. Schroter.

From QFA’s side, the QFA General Secretary Mansoor Al Ansari, Executive Director of the QFA President office Ali Dawood, and QFA Executive Director of Strategy and Institutional Development Mushtaq Al Waeli also attended the meeting.

The Nordic Football Association’s delegation is in the Qatari capital Doha as a number of Scandinavian national teams which includes Sweden, Finland, Iceland, and Estonia will be conducting their winter training camps in Qatar.

The four national teams are also set to play friendly matches against one another during their visit to Qatar on January 8, 11 and 15. The friendly matches will be held at Al Sadd Stadium and Khalifa International Stadium.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the bilateral relations concerning football in Qatar and Scandinavia and ways of enhancing them. They also discussed matters of mutual interest and the importance of developing them in the coming period in Qatar and the Nordic nations, while continuing to enhance the cooperation between these associations.
At the end of the meeting, the parties stressed on the importance of building on their relationship and on further developing them in the future to help impact football in a positive way.

The Nordic Football Association’s delegation will also be given an exclusive tour of Al Bidda Tower’s ‘Legacy Pavilion’ – which brings to life the plans for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar™. The delegation is also planned to make a stop at Education City Stadium to witness its’ latest developments.
